I still think of Bobbie so often- it was such a sad time - he was a childhood friend and neighbor

I have an old picture that my father took at Minadeo 6th grade graduation with Bobbie, Eric Kotovsky, Ricky Braun, Larry Levine, Michael Levy, Jerry Sambol, Arthur Berman, Howie Valinsky, David Holzer, and Alan Berman. some day I might get around to making copies of it- it is sad that 3 are no longer with us.

I remember "Bobbie," as I called him from Minadeo.  We use to play together on the field before the bell would ring.  One day in December we were on the field playing and we decided to make snowballs and throw them at each other.  We inadvertly hit someone else who got in our way.  That person reported us to the principal and we were both brought into the office.  I started to cry because I didn't want to get paddled, that'ts what they did at the time.  He looked at me and said,"Don't worry I will take the punishment for you, I will tell them I hit the person with the snow ball."  I hugged him and said,"You are a true friend."

Soon after that I had found out that he had fallen out of a tree and broke a bone, that's when his parents found out that he had leukemia.  When I heard that they he had passed away, I was so saddened.  This was the first encounter I had with the death of someone close to me.  I will always remember "Bob," that freckled red headed boy, who was full of life and remains in my memory forever.

I'll always remember Robert's charming personality and his red hair, brillant smile & cute freckles. I always enjoyed our conversations.  I was shocked and saddened when he passed of leukemia.  He was my buddy and I truly missed him.

Bobby was a good friend. We had many hobbies in common; Sports, music & Citizens Band Radio. We talked on the CB a LOT. I remember picking him up in my 1966 Dodge Coronet and crusing around Squirrel Hill. We used to eat pizza @ Mineo's after a game of hoops.

I remember vividly the day he informed me that he had Cancer of the blood. He told me "I will be okay." Unfortunately, that was not the case. Too soon gone Bobby. Rest in peace.
